Sara Ahmed is the newest Victory Congressional Fellow named by LGBTQ+ Victory Institute.
This competitive 10-month fellowship brings one outstanding young LGBTQ+ professional to Capitol Hill to work in the Congressional Equality Caucus, supporting the Executive Director of the Caucus. As a fellow, Sara will also participate in a leadership development program that explores the policy-making process, includes our Candidate & Campaign Training, and dives into the pressing issues facing the LGBTQ+ community. Her fellowship begins on September 3, 2024, and ends on June 27, 2025. Read more about Sara below:
Sara Ahmed (she/her) is a recent graduate from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a B.A. in global studies and political science and a minor in French. She has professional experience engaging with government on local and national policy issues both as a grassroots organizer and as an Executive Member of UCSB’s Lobby Corps, and extensive cross-cultural competencies resulting from a lifetime of travel and international mentorship work. This summer Sara served as a Camp Director at Ivy Camps USA, and is currently acting as the Victory Congressional Fellow 2024-2025 for LGBTQ+ Victory Institute and Congressional Equality Caucus.
Sara hopes to continue to pursue a career in a field related to political science, international relations, global development, and/or international law in the future.
