LGBTQ Elected Officials

“If you are not at the table, you are likely on the menu.”

Former U.S. Representative Barney Frank

Our network of nearly 1,000 LGBTQ elected officials from across the nation are leading efforts to advance equality at every level of government. These elected officials represent America at its best – diverse leaders who make the values of inclusion, fairness and justice the cornerstone of their policy positions and decision-making.

Engaging the Network

2021 LGBTQ Elected Officials Quarterly Convenings

Victory Institute will provide programming each quarter in 2021 to the 970+ network of openly LGBTQ Elected Officials through its inaugural “LGBTQ Elected Officials Quarterly Convenings.”

These hour-long, virtual quarterly convenings have been designed to provide the network with an opportunity to further build community, share best practices among one another, and engage in relevant topics that are aimed to further support the work of openly LGBTQ Elected Officials. The convenings will include a blend of networking, Institute program updates, and a relevant and timely issue. The four “Convenings” will lead up to the Elected Officials Summit in Washington, DC as part of the International LGBTQ Leaders Conference (December 1 – 4, 2021).

Quote from LGBTQ elected officials - "We are 164 LGBTQ elected officials representing millions of constituents, and we urge you to join us embodying the highest ideals of our great and diverse nation."

The Power of
LGBTQ Elected Officials

In a powerful display of unity, LGBTQ elected officials representing millions of Americans called on then President-elect Donald Trump to respect LGBTQ Americans and continue efforts to advance equality. In an open letter to the President-elect, 164 elected officials expressed grave concerns about his anti-equality Cabinet appointees, and warned they would fight back if he attempted to rollback LGBTQ rights. It was the largest collective action by LGBTQ elected officials in history.
