LGBTQ Elected Officials

Former U.S. Representative Barney Frank

The Power of
LGBTQ Elected Officials

In a powerful display of unity in the face of relentless attacks on trans kids, 27 LGBTQ state legislators across 19 states committed to introducing legislation to create trans refuge states. These laws would shield trans kids and their families from penalties when seeking gender-affirming care.

Counting our Elected Officials

We work to track openly LGBTQ elected officials at all levels of government on our Out for America interactive map. But with more than 519,000 elected positions nationwide, we are sure to miss some. If you are an openly LGBTQ elected official and do not appear on the map, let us know below!
