On Wednesday, January 22, Mayor Annise Parker, President and CEO of Victory Institute, welcomed LGBTQ mayors who had traveled to Washington, DC to attend the 88th Winter Meeting of the U.S. Conference of Mayors. The informal reception was designed to bring this growing and influential community of LGBTQ leaders together and celebrate their successes.
In attendance were Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot, Tampa Mayor Jane Castor, Madison Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway, Holyoke Mayor Alex Morse, Somerset Mayor Jeff Slavin, and West Sacramento Mayor Christopher Cabaldon. Also, joining the party were LPAC Executive Director Stephanie Sandberg and David Bohnett Foundation Executive Director Michael Fleming.
“In every measurable way, LGBTQ mayors are making a significant impact in cities throughout the country, and all of us at Victory, especially Mayor Parker, couldn’t be prouder,” said Ruben Gonzales, Victory Institute Vice President.
