This past weekend, Victory Institute hosted an LGBTQ+ ANC Candidate Workshop for LGBTQ+ leaders in Washington, DC who are interested in running for ANC (Advisory Neighborhood Commission). This LGBTQ+ Public Leadership Summit, hosted in partnership with the ANC Rainbow Caucus and Capital Stonewall Democrats brought together over 15 local LGBTQ+ leaders to engage in conversations around local LGBTQ+ representation in politics.
We joined by Washington, DC Ward 5 Councilmember Zachary Parker who opened the program and gave incredible advice and support for local LGBTQ+ DC leadership. The program included important guidance for LGBTQ+ candidates generally as well as position-specific regulations. The program concluded with a fireside chat with Kent Boese, Executive Director of the Office of ANC, and Vincent Slatt, Chair of the ANC Rainbow Caucus, who led a great discussion on increasing LGBTQ+ ANC power in the district.
