The second brief in the “More Than Represent” series examines examines the impact openly LGBTQ state legislators have on thwarting anti-equality legislation opponents push in state legislatures. Among the findings:

  • In the 30 states that are facing anti-LGBTQ legislation, nearly 75% have only 1 or no openly LGBTQ state legislators; and
  • In the 20 states not facing anti-LGBTQ legislation, 85% have 2 or more openly LGBTQ state lawmakers.
