Gay & Lesbian Victory Institute and Triangle Project (Triangle) are looking for participants for the LGBTI Political Leadership Learning Institute, in the Western Cape, which will take place in Cape Town, South Africa. It will consist of five different three-day modules, from February 2017 through September 2017.
The objective of the LGBTI Political Leadership Learning Institute is to provide the theoretical and practical content needed to strengthen LGBTI leadership and provide participants with the right tools to advance the equality agenda, through participation in the democratic process and the interaction with political institutions. This non-partisan training aims to strengthen the political leadership abilities of South Africa LGBTI leaders who believe in the importance of political participation as a tool to advance toward equality, who are active leaders in their communities, or who have interest in running for local office.
The trainings are a part of our overarching project with Triangle to bring the topic of political participation for LGBTI people in South Africa to public political agenda. We opened the project with our first activity in November 2016, a civil society forum that brought together LGBTI elected officials and activists to dialogue about how political participation of LGBTI people can strengthen the South African democracy.
The training applications close this Sunday, January 29, 2017. Scholarships will be provided to selected participants which includes meals, transportation, hotel accommodation, and training fees. Please visit our webpage to read the complete call for participants.
