Candidate training following DC Women’s March draws 500 participants

The morning following President Trump’s inauguration, hundreds of thousands of people descended on Washington, DC and cities across the nation to march for women’s rights and equality. Capitalizing on the energy from the march, Victory Institute partnered with Emily’s List, the Latino Victory Fund, The New American Leaders Project, Higher Heights for America, the Asian American Action Fund, Emerge America, and organizers of the march to train 500 people, mostly women, to run for office. The session, entitled “Getting Ready to Run,” was held at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Washington, DC, and featured Victory Institute President & CEO, Aisha C. Moodie-Mills as a guest speaker. Moodie-Mills pledged Victory Institute’s support for LGBTQ women seeking to run for office and encouraged participants to lead the next generation in answering the call to serve.
