Our team just completed our second Candidate & Campaign training of the year in Salt Lake City, Utah. Over four days from Thursday, April 27 through Sunday, April 30, we trained 23 participants who arrived from all over the country and benefited significantly from the experience!
We were joined by Ogden City Council Member Marcia White and former Utah state Senator Derek Kitchen! They spoke to participants about the best ways to run for office as an out candidate and shared their experiences from the trail. Utah state Representative Sahara Hayes joined us for the reception to encourage our attendees!

Our signature 4-day bootcamp-styled LGBTQ+ Candidate & Campaign Trainings provide a comprehensive, non-partisan simulation to understand campaign best practices for any present or future LGBTQ+ candidates, campaign staff, and community leaders. Trainees learn the necessary skills and strategies by engaging in tough, realistic campaign exercises and working with peers to develop a plan to run for office and win. Topics include dealing with anti-LGBTQ attacks, making a walk list and yes – crafting successful fundraising asks!

We were so honored to be joined by a diverse array of LGBTQ+ leaders from around the country. 39% of our trainees were transgender, non-binary, gender nonconforming, or two-spirit. 39% of our trainees were people of color, 17% of our trainees were women. We’re committed to ensure that all LGBTQ+ people have an equal seat at the tables of power – and that means ensuring everyone has the tools to win on Election Day.
