Our team just wrapped up our very successful Midwestern Candidate & Campaign Training in Chicago (the Windy City). This training we were also joined by our 2024 Victory Empowerment Fellows (VEF) who attended a day of programing ahead of starting the training with the rest of the cohort. Below are some brief highlights (and photos) from the impactful weekend:
Participants:
- 46 participants from across the country representing 25 states AND Canada!
- 43% people of color;
- 45% participants of marginalized gender experience (15% cisgender women & 30% transgender, nonbinary, gender nonconforming, intersex, or Two-Spirit);
- 44% of participants are CURRENTLY running a campaign; 41% are seriously considering running in the next 2 years.
Special Guests:
Participation by Former Mayor of Chicago Lori Lightfoot, Chicago Alderperson Lamont Robinson, Chicago Alderperson Maria Hadden, Hon. Jill Rose Quinn, Commissioner Kevin Morrison, and over 15 regional elected officials from Illinois, Wisconsin, and Indiana. We were also joined by our LGBTQ+ Elected Official Trainer, Virginia State Senator Danica Roem.
