Victory Institute President & CEO Aisha C. Moodie-Mills released the following statement in response to the failed Senate efforts to repeal the Affordable Care Act:
“Tens of millions of Americans who depend on the Affordable Care Act are breathing a sigh of relief this morning – and they are disproportionately LGBTQ people, seniors, people of color and low-income Americans. From the Senate floor, Tammy Baldwin said it best when she called pre-existing conditions a ‘scarlet letter’ for those seeking healthcare before the ACA, including low-income people living with HIV and trans people in need of necessary medical care. The healthcare debate is about who we are as Americans – what we value and how we treat our neighbors. We are incredibly grateful for leaders like Senator Baldwin who have shared their stories and fought to keep ACA alive.”
