Attorneys General Anne Lopez, Dana Nessel, and Kris Mayes are the only three out LGBTQ+ AGs
Washington, DC — Karine Jean-Pierre, the first out LGBTQ+ person to serve as White House Press Secretary, will moderate a plenary on Friday with Attorneys General Anne Lopez of Hawaii, Dana Nessel of Michigan, and Kris Mayes of Arizona at the LGBTQ+ Victory Institute’s 41st annual International LGBTQ+ Leaders Conference in Washington.
The panel will discuss what it means for LGBTQ+ women to lead with courage at a time when LGBTQ+ people are facing unprecedented political attacks. From protecting families and affirming health care to holding bad actors accountable in court, Attorneys General Lopez, Nessel, and Mayes will share their experiences fighting on the frontlines of equality not just for LGBTQ+ communities, but for every community in their states. All three women hold the distinction of being the first out LGBTQ+ women to serve as Attorney General in their state. They will also explore how their lived experiences shape their approach to justice and inform their work safeguarding fundamental rights.

Over 700 LGBTQ+ political leaders and human rights advocates will gather for the LGBTQ+ Victory Institute’s annual conference in Washington, D.C. President Biden will receive the Chris Abele Impact Award for Historic Leadership on LGBTQ+ Equality.
