WASHINGTON–LGBTQ+ Victory Institute is thrilled to welcome around 700 LGBTQ+ elected officials, human rights leaders and more to its 40th annual International LGBTQ+ Leaders Conference in Washington, D.C. from December 5th- 7th, 2024.
The conference includes plenary and breakout sessions, receptions for elected leaders and supporters, and its prestigious award ceremonies honoring the best and brightest LGBTQ+ political leaders. Attendees include Sen. Tammy Baldwin, Rep. Robert Garcia, State Sen. Toni Atkins, State Sen. Keturah Herron, State Rep. Zooey Zephyr, State Sen. Danica Roem, Minneapolis Council President Andrea Jenkins, Journalist Ina Fried, and more.
“For 40 years LGBTQ politicians have gathered to learn, network and share strategies to help grow LGBTQ+ representation around the world, work that is even more critical now,” says President & CEO of LGBTQ+ Victory Institute Mayor Annise Parker. “As anti-equality forces strengthen and take more power globally, we must continue to unite, stake our claim within the halls of power and build the solutions we need to ensure equitable representation across the world.”
This year’s conference will feature discussions about the 2024 Elections and the road ahead for LGBTQ+ politics, artificial intelligence and the potential impact to campaigns, explorations of the political landscape in Latin America and the launch of the Regional Observatory for LGBTQI Political Participation, school boards and parental rights and more.
LGBTQ+ Victory Institute, the conference host, and the LGBTQ+ Victory Action Board of Directors will also induct three new members to the LGBTQ+ Political Hall of Fame: State Sen Danica Roem of Virginia, Judge John Arrowood of North Carolina, and Former Mayor Claudia López of Bogotá, Colombia. Hall of Fame inductee and Minneapolis councilwoman Andrea Jenkins will emcee the induction ceremony taking place Saturday, Dec. 7th at 2:15 PM.
The 2024 Tammy Baldwin Breakthrough Award winner Keturah Herron, and the 2024 Global Trailblazer Award Winner, Susel Paredes will be presented with their awards during the conference on Fri. Dec. 6th at 2:30 PM by California Sen. Toni Atkins.
