Mateo de la Torre is a trans man from Tijuana, Mexico with more than a decade of experience advancing LGBTIQ+ rights across Latin America, the Caribbean, and the United States. He currently serves as Deputy Director of Global Programs at the LGBTQ+ Victory Institute and coordinates the region’s LGBTIQ+ Political Participation Observatory. He previously served as Policy and Advocacy Director at Black and Pink National, Racial and Economic Justice Policy Advocate at the National Center for Transgender Equality, and as an appointee in the Obama Administration. Through his work, he continues to build pathways for collective power, strengthen trans and LGBTIQ+ political leadership, and advance a global vision of justice and liberation.
