Race & Ethnicity of LGBTQ+ Elected Officials by Year (2017-2025)

Since the launch of Out for America in 2017, the number of out LGBTQ+ people of color in elected office has continued to grow, reflecting the racial and ethnic diversity of LGBTQ+ representation in elected positions. Overall, the number of LGBTQ+ elected officials of color has increased from 92 to 479, representing a 420.7% rise since 2017. Most notably, the number of Black LGBTQ+ representation has grown 560.9% since 2027, from 23 to 152. AAPI representation has grown 375% since 2017, from 12 to 57.
