LGBTQ+ Elected Officials by State and Territory

Wyoming is the only state where there is no reported out LGBTQ+ elected official at any level of government, losing its one LGBTQ+ elected official between 2024 and 2025. Louisiana (5 to 3), Alaska (6 to 4), South Carolina (3 to 2), and Guam (3 to 2) all decreased LGBTQ+ representation by more than one-third between 2024 and 2024.

Missouri experienced the highest percentage increase in LGBTQ+ representation, with 10 LGBTQ+ elected officials, compared to 6 in 2024. Wisconsin (30 to 46), Tennessee (9 to 13), Rhode Island (8 to 11), Texas (36 to 49), Kentucky (10 to 13) and Washington, DC (34 to 45) all increased LGBTQ+ representation in their state or territory by more than one-third between 2024 and 2025.
