Washington, D.C., (Nov. 30, 2016) – Victory Institute, the nation’s only LGBTQ organization dedicated to building a pipeline of LGBTQ elected officials at the local, state and national level, will bring together more than 400 LGBTQ elected officials, appointees, leaders, ambassadors and advocates for the first major gathering of the LGBTQ movement since the presidential election. The three-day conference aims to chart a path forward for LGBTQ elected officials and leaders as the Trump administration continues to appoint anti-LGBTQ cabinet members who threaten to dismantle the unprecedented gains of the last eight years.
Participants at the International LGBTQ Leaders Conference will hear from many of the movement’s most high-ranking leaders, and develop a unified strategy for securing recent progress. The conference will also host the largest closed-door meeting of LGBTQ elected officials in history, where leaders will strategize around using their collective power to create an effective opposition to the anti-equality agenda of the new administration.
The conference will take place in Washington, D.C. from Dec. 8 – 10. Most sessions are open to the press, and elected officials and leaders are available for interviews. A complete agenda with speakers is available at lgbtleaders.org/program.php.
